2008 JULY

SWAPPERS!!  I updated the page:  http://baresheepyarn.com/swap.aspx

July 31st

Well, it has just been one of those weeks…

From school shopping to braces argh, Momma needs some quiet time, a swing in the hammock, a second to herself that won’t cost as much as a car. I have been having “stress issues” as they are but you can only imagine my horror and instant stomach pains when the perky nurse at the orthodontist’s office said, “that will be $5,500.30 for the complete care of your son’s mouth.”.

I just stared at the bill until it wasn’t black anymore and the stars cleared and I could see again. Oh, so that $0.30 I am sure that $0.30 was needed. No group discount? No free spa visit? NO FREE valium? Why don’t you just let me pick up the bill on you Jaguar?

So then today, I decide that there is no better time to go school shopping with the kids, all three of them… I must have taken one pill too many last night because as soon as I got in the shoe store all of the nightmares from previous trips returned all at once and I wanted to turn and run. But I didn’t…. I should have.

Two Tylenols, two more stores and an advil later, all of the smoke seems to be clearing.

Tomorrow: the eye Doctor. And, yes all three children. Need more medication.

Have a stress free one,

Jenny

July 30th

This is all I have to say that I did today...

July 28th

No rain so we had to start the irrigation again.  at least we have it but whew it is expensive rain!!   I am putting the office back together.  I made quite a mess after the last yarn show and I have to return my borrowed yarn from the distributor. I FINISHED my second pair of socks for the contest!!!  WHEW HEW!!!!

Other than that I feel like it has been a little boring around here.  Ok, waiting for the thunder bolt....

Have a good quiet one,

jenny

Quiet time in Maggie's room

July 25th
The fair was a lot of fun.  We (Maggie and Nathan) now want a miniture horse...  yipee.  but on the tractor front the John Deere Co. only brought "the small ones" so the hubby and the boys left a little bummed.

All is well on the Dr. visit front.  I only got a little sweaty.  It was nice to see my Dr.  She delivered two of my babies and one was not easy.

Well, I guess I need to go start my day.

Have a good helthy one,
jenny

July 24th
Rain!! “It’s raining men, Hallelujah!, It’s raining men….” ,
I always thought that was a retarded song but WHEW we got some rain!! I can hear the corn exhaling and swaying in the damp breeze. We live on “the other” side of the Chesapeake Bay and storms always seem to split when they are going over the Bay from Baltimore, as it so happens we are usually on the dry side of the split by a mile EVERY TIME but this time ahhhhh we got it.

Randy shut down the irrigation system and we are taking the kids to the DE state fair. The problem with that is by the time we leave Maggie NEEDS a horse and the boys need a new tractor (yes hubby included). So, it is time to drag out the kids Stetsons and smell some fresh manure. There is a popular booth where you get to watch a cow have a calf. I am sure she is really happy to have a hundred people on bleachers staring at her privates.  "Millie, I think she's a coming." 2 hrs later still nothing and they are still sitting there.

Ok, so I went to the Dermatologist yesterday for my hives. I knew it was bad when my mother in law said that I need to go to the Dr, she thought I had shingles (so did I…). alright I am not going to sugar coat it… they are pimples damn it. But they’re special… they ain’t grandma’s pimples (that’s right cause grandma DIDN’T HAVE ANY!!!!) Geez, I am closer to the change than being a teenager so what the crap! Mine are blah, blah, blah from stress, blah blah. $210 later worth of meds (like that doesn’t add stress, zit Dr…) I should be in the clear. Hee hee I know.

I also decided to call every Dr. I know and make an appointment. The kids have the Dentist and the Orthodentist/dontist… (I’m sure that won’t cause stress, I’ll be putting another car in my oldest son’s mouth!) . And yes my yearly, which has turned into my every three year event. I had a breast cancer scare and try to avoid that Dr. I get all sweaty and nervous and I always feel like I have the Digestional distress and as you gals know that is not the time to feel that way! There are some more hive/pimples in my future. I‘ll be spreading that cream everywhere…

Our Bunny now has a name “Shmookie”. What? It rhymes with Cookie (our dog), it made the kids happy and when I looked to see if he/she was a he or she it pooped out of it’s “extra tail” which I thought were the he parts. I am a city girl at heart, really! Then Shmookie had a shiver and peed a gallon of the stinkiest tinkle all down the front of my shirt that I have every experienced. And I have three kids.

So on that note I am going to answer some emails, drink another cup and get ready for the fair.

Happy Day,
Jenny

July 20th

It has been so hot that I have been getting out in the studio after supper and working until the bugs start to bite. It has been really nice actually (except for the bugs). The kids like to read or watch the Avatar (some weird cartoon I don’t get) It is addictive like Harry Plopper, my husband loves it too!!! So they stare at the screen and I have quiet time to play with my colors. I have started a new yarn line, it is not an original idea to make striped yarn but I was receiving a lot of yarn requests for yarn that doesn’t pool. I need to get on the horn and beg my favorite distributor to put his yarn in cones so I can make some sock yarn with stripes.

I miss Ebay. It was fun to see people bidding on my yarn, at times that is stressful especially when you have to list the yarn at cost or sadly below. It was so much easier to list yarn there and keep the orders organized but I am learning ETSY tricks here and there. I have found that I am a lot more relaxed now not giving the yarn away!! As I have said before I know that it is like selling perfume on the TV but I have switched to yarn bases that people know are soft and reliable. It is just too hard to sell unknown wool types. Boo (I love the Canadian)!

The Sock Club numbers will be posted as soon as I can do an update and I have to make another page for this months entries. When will these socks end? My pancake hands are sore…. Hee hee!!!

Today would have been my mother’s birthday, I thought after she died days like this would be easier… I am still remorseful for all she left behind in death and while living. Maybe, it is just another reminder to live life fully and with as much happiness as you can.

Have a full one,
Jenny

july something around the 15th

My children are surviving camp.  Me on the other hand...  it is an early rise for this coffee drinker.  I am writing in large font and blue because my mouse ran out of juice and I have to use this box thing and my finger on the lap top and it is pissing me off.

I lost a friend today.  Sometimes life just deals you a rotten hand and both sides are right in a situation and both are wrong and pride and feelings get in the way and you throw your hands up in the air and give up.  As you all are painfully aware (and is NOOO secret) I am as sensitive as they come.  There is really no pill (legal) that I can take to wipe this away from me.  So gently most of my friends tell me how it is...well gently.

I will help anyone out.  I will help people start a business that will keep you home or make a little extra cash to help at home, I will advertise your place on my site,  I will buy from those very people.  And here comes the fine line...  It is yarn and there isn't much you can do with yarn to promote and sell those colored sheep's hairs. So as my hands are up in the air, I have lost a friend.

This yarn business is in my heart, it is a top priority in my life; husband, children, family, farm, and yarn business.  I have a simple life, one I run with pride.  Situations are going to come up in life like this one and I try to avoid them at all costs, but they will still find you and happen.

This month has been a Karma filled pooper.  Now as the smoke is starting to clear, I have my computer back, my yarn is selling, the corn is all sold and swept out of the 100 degree bins, it has rained and my children now have a nameless bunny.

So now I am going to go do what I do and put my arms down and make my fingernails a nice shade of teal and call it a day on this life in the computer.  The internet is a mystery...  good and bad.

have a good bunny filled one,
Jenny

July 13,2008
Today I dyed yarn like it was 1999!  It was so much fun and my husband built me two new swifts. One makes a 20' skein and the bigger one is 30'.  I was telling him how everyone (but my bud Nancy) wants bigger stripes and he surprised me with my new toy and he even made skeins for me!!!  (and he hasn't done anything bad that I know about....yet!!).  So it was a blast out there.  I made a huge batch of Tea Rose, Griff, and a blue mix all in BFL then a mexican tile and two skeins of a blue mix of the Brown Sheep Mohair.  I am going to knit up some swatches and call it:
 ZEBRA STRIPES

July 12th
I'M BACK!!!!!  My computer is back so I can add pictures to the site.  Oh how I missed Betsy!!  Nothing is ever easy.  when I got to the Geek Squad......  I made them turn on the computer because I wasn't gonna drive an hour home and drop kick Betsy unless I had to.  They turn it on and they hadn't put all of my goodies back!!!  Boy would I have been MAD!!!
Well I have to get ready for a Farm Bureau Picnic!!
So I have a lot of work to do I WILL JUDGE THE SOCK TOMORROW!!!!!!!!  YIPEEEEEE!!!!!AHHHHH!!!
Missed ya!
Jenny

 July 10th
So, I had this really weird experience today...

We spent all day building a bunny condo and  I have to go to town and get special flooring and boards to finish off the project.  I also have to go to the food store and to the post office. While at the Post Office with Nathan this young man comes into the lobby and hands the postal clerk an envelope WITH LATEX GLOVES ON!!  I look at the clerk and skake my head in that "What you talkin' bout Willis" look and stare at the man.  SOMETHING ISN'T right!!!  Then I look at the envelope and it is addressed to National Security Washington DC.      J.C.!!!  So I get a good look at the fella and he takes off.   J.C!!  What do I do? and now they have my name if something turns up bad and the postmaster did something with the package so I feel a little better.

We live in the country and I had no idea that something like this could happen so close to home.  Has it really become "that time" in Country small town america where we should risk our lives by taking packages to the Post Office?  After much conversation and a panic attack, I really do believe that it was a kid wrapped up in all of the issues and trying to be "smart".  If it was really bad he would have bought stamps (jackass) and put it in the box (duh not go up to the counter!!). It would have been sealed and he would be injured if it was a powder induced package.  But here I am in my car with my scared son, shaking thinking What have I done by bringing my son along to the Post Office.  I was afraid to tell my husband because I was afraid he would make me shut down my business and make me move to Iowa.  After a short cell phone call, he just made me pissy and had come to the same conclusion as I had in two minutes.

So lets just hope I don't get a phone call from a government muckity muck!  Poor Nathan, I tried to act like it wasn't a big deal but even at his young age he knew something wasn't right.

On that note I am pooped in more ways than one and need to go to bed.  I will have to tell you later about how my hubby built me a 30' (yup foot) skein winder.  I took pictures and everything so all of those people out there watch out JENNY has a new toy and I see a new killer yarn line coming (all Jenny colors!!).  Ahhh that cheered me up.

Have a good powder free envelope night,
Jenny

July 9th
I can sit here and type this and all hell will break loose but....  The kids have been really awesome so far this summer vacation!  No, I'm bored, just alittle bit of fighting, just a little bit of cabin fever here and there.  I think that they have hit the ages where I can relax a little and let them go on bike rides, paint the tree house, explore the farm and I don't have a nervous breakdown ( I know, let them spread their wings).  (either that or the meds are working).  I see my sister in law  with her little one and how she is in constant fear that she will fall in the pool or break something and I think that we are SOOOOO past that stage.  The pool is still not my favorite spot because Maggie is still not the strongest swimmer but she gets better everytime.

I loved having my babies but I am so glad that we can relax and have fun.  Speaking of...  kinda... Randy brought home a bunny last night.  What.  and I was ok about it.  We live on a farm, right?  So in a little bit we are going to go to the local farm store and buy the stuff to build a cage -living box- thingy.  The food, water thing and a wheel (just kidding!).  We are still trying to name it (not knowing if it is a he/she) I have found that I have been calling it
"He-She"!

I had no idea I had so much yarn to list on the computer!  I took over 400 hundred pictures to list yarn on Etsy and Ebay and I haven't even made a dent.  Anne's computer is working a lot better now that it has almost finished UPDATING  all of the updates for the past two years.  I will try again to update the site. If it still doesn't have enough ummph to download pictures to the site I will just have to wait another week to judge the pictures for the sock club.

I turned off the store on Ebay.  It costs a lot a month to run and with the new fees I gave that part of the business up.  I do however plan to list a lot of big oddball lots on Ebay I just have to weigh some of my big oddballs and run it through the yard meter.

We are all planted here on the farm and all of the wheat has been cut, WHEW.  We are still doing all of the spraying but the end is near.  AND THEN MY ROOF.  Do you have any idea how many times I have heard that sentence?  FOR 4 YEARS!!!  But I have put my foot down!  I know it is a hard, bad, hot job and I know it is just the spare bedroom but damn it, it better get fixed or Momma is gonna EXPLODE!

Do you know how when you finally decide to take a vacation everything seems to happen at that very little week (1 out of 52 geez) you decide to do something.  The fair, Matt's school tour, summer parties, get togethers.... ARGH!  I am going on vacation darn it!

Well,  One is crying so I will stop the fingers from dancing (slowly...)

Have a good one,
Jenny

So, I am on another computer that hasn't been turned on since 2006...  I love you Anne! But J.C. I think my head just popped.  I have had it with modern technology  I am ready to live in a cave.  Well, a modern cave with bathrooms and a kitchen and running water.  Ok, so maybe not a cave but a house without a phone and computer.  What did people do before these evil inventions?
